Where Family, Foundation, and Spots Come Together
We’re the Terebayza family — Michael and Stefanie, along with our daughters Ashley and Angelique — and we’re the hearts behind Spotted Gang Appaloosas, a dedicated Appaloosa horse farm in Hopkins, South Carolina.
Nestled just outside Columbia, SC, our farm is more than a business — it’s home. Here, horses live and thrive alongside our family, surrounded by care, love, and legacy.
A Lifelong Love for Horses and a Spotted Dream
We opened our gates in 2013 at our original location in Camden, SC, as a riding school and summer camp barn under the name Pony Gang. In 2022, we moved to our current property in Hopkins, bringing with us decades of horsemanship experience — rooted in English riding from Stefanie’s German background and Western riding from Michael’s American upbringing.
Together, we discovered a shared passion: the Appaloosa horse — known for its colorful coat patterns, versatility, and historic importance. That love became our mission.
How the Spotted Gang Began
The name Spotted Gang Appaloosas honors our roots and celebrates our future. It reflects the evolution from Pony Gang — w
here we introduced children and families to horses — to our new chapter as Foundation Appaloosa breeders focused on quality, conformation, and color.
In early Spring of 2025, we learned that an Appaloosa breeder in Michael’s hometown in Minnesota was preparing to sell their Foundation breeding stock. It felt like the opportunity we had been waiting for — a chance to step into the world of Appaloosa horse breeding and help carry forward the legacy of this iconic breed.
We officially purchased our cornerstone herd at the start of August 2025: the striking GAP 5 stallion BCA Chats Nuksay, one of his few spot colts from 2025, the colt’s GAP 4 dam, and two exceptional GAP 5 mares — all double registered with ApHC and ICAA.
Our new herd will make the move from Minnesota to South Carolina in early September 2025, settling into their forever home here at Spotted Gang Appaloosas.
With their former owners program advancing into GAP 7 and beyond, we are proud to continue the legacy of GAP 5 and GAP 6 Foundation Appaloosas in the Southeast.
Life at Our Appaloosa Horse Farm in South Carolina
Our farm currently spans 28.8 peaceful acres in the hearts of Hopkins, SC. It’s a place where Foundation Appaloosa foals will be born in safety, raised in natural herds, and nurtured with daily, hands-on care.
Foals are raised at home, handled with respect, and sold as weanlings — ready for trail, show, or family life.
We also share the land with our herd of 40 more equines, 3 miniature cows, 6 pot belly pigs, and 2 goats — because here, all animals are part of the story.
Our Appaloosa Breeding Philosophy
At Spotted Gang Appaloosas, we’re not just matching mares and stallions at random. Each cross is carefully thought out — balancing color genetics, temperament,
versatility, and structure to produce foals that are both stunning and steady-minded.
Our horses are all:
Double registered with ApHC & ICAA Enrolled in the GAP program (GAP 4 to GAP 5) 6-panel negative for inherited disorders. Genetically tested for LP and PATN1 to ensure bold, colorful coat patterns
Our goal? Horses that are born to shine in the arena, on the trail, or right in your backyard.
